Digital Sovereignty: GRASS-MERKUR as Host
Working with Industry Leaders for Greater Digital Control
Digital sovereignty was not merely a buzzword at the most recent exchange, but the focus of an open, practice-oriented discussion. As host, GRASS-MERKUR joined the eco – Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V. in inviting representatives from business, IT and digital infrastructure to discuss how companies and organizations can gain more control over their data, their infrastructure and their digital value creation.
The differing perspectives of the participants were particularly valuable – among them DE-CIX, Microsoft, Nokia, Althammer & Kill and other players in the digital ecosystem.
Some key insights from the discussions:
- More courage to offer sovereign alternatives and put them to active use
- Create transparency so that well-founded decisions can be made
- Further strengthen the dialogue between providers, users and policymakers
- Critically question and reduce dependencies
- Understand digital sovereignty as a strategic task
GRASS-MERKUR would like to thank all participants for the open conversations, the compelling impetus and the constructive exchange. By hosting formats such as this one, GRASS-MERKUR shows how important shared dialogue is in advancing digital sovereignty in Germany and Europe in concrete terms.
