To strengthen our team, we’re looking for an experienced and technically skilled Enterprise Architect (m/f/d) to strategically advance our cloud and data center infrastructure.

Since 1971, we at GRASS-MERKUR in Hanover have been designing digital infrastructure that others can rely on. In our highly secure data center, featuring approximately 3,500 m² of white space, we ensure day in and day out that businesses, government agencies, and critical infrastructure are secure, reliable, and future-proof—from colocation and managed services to private cloud and network solutions. Our cloud and managed services are also certified: to ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, supplemented by ISO/IEC 27017 for cloud security and ISO/IEC 27018 for the protection of personal data.

More than 80 colleagues contribute their expertise here and together serve over 100 clients, ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to DAX-listed corporations. • You will strategically plan and develop the architecture and topology of our cloud environments.
• You will plan and lead projects in the infrastructure and cloud environment.
• You automate infrastructure, deployment, and operational processes.
• You will manage and optimize the cloud services we offer.
• You will be responsible for the scaling and performance of our Ceph storage system.
• You design network architectures with a focus on SDN, BGP, and EVPN.
• You ensure redundancy and high availability of our infrastructure.
• You manage virtualization environments such as VMware and KVM/libvirt.

• At least 5 years of experience in project management and leadership using PRINCE2 or a comparable framework, including agile methods
• At least 5 years of experience in the design, planning, and implementation of cloud architectures based on OpenStack
• At least 5 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD using Ansible, Terraform, and higher-level workflow tools, such as AWX or Kestra
• Expert knowledge of the OpenStack core services (Keystone, Neutron, Glance, Cinder, Nova), as well as other services such as Magnum, Barbican, Designate, and Cyborg
• Expert knowledge of Ceph, particularly with regard to scaling and performance
• In-depth understanding of network architectures and topologies, with a focus on SDN, BGP, and EVPN
• Solid technical knowledge of redundancy and high availability
• Expert knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware and KVM/libvirt
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills to present complex architectures in an understandable way
• Strong communication skills and a confident demeanor when interacting with various stakeholders—from technical teams to executive management
• An independent, structured approach to work with a strong hands-on mindset
• Strong customer and solution orientation, along with a passion for advising internal and external contacts
